- Purchase a High Quality Set of Mulching Blade. Oregon Gator Mulching Blades are our personal favorite and the best blade on the market. They are great because they help to better mulch grass and give your lawn a great appearance.
- Change oil on lawn mower based on manufacturers recommendations. At the very minimum, we recommend that you change oil at the beginning of each session in order to ensure reliability and that you check oil each time before you begin mowing your lawn.
- Clean/Replace air filter. Clogged air filters can lead to damaged engine and dirty carburetors and poor performing engines. We recommend checking your air filter at least once a month or after any time you cut a lawn with lots of debris floating in the air or in any cases where you think the engine could have sucked up a lot of dust or debris. It is critical to lawn mowing and your lawn mowers health that you check, clean or replace your air filter on a regular basis.
- Replace worn wheels. Often times people neglect replacing their lawn mower wheels and use wheels that are very worn and end up tearing the grass. If you have bald wheels on your lawn mower, we strongly recommend replacing them.
- Checking air pressure in tires and fill to manufacturer’s specifications. This is applicable and especially important to mowers with inflatable tires. By filling up tires with low/uneven air pressure, you can significantly improve your quality of cut and even lower gas consumption by reducing engine load.
