This week, I ordered a set of hi lift mulching lawn mower blades after a recommendation by a professional in the lawn care industry. Supposedly, the high lift blade is the best type of blade to have because it creates a vacuum effect within the mower to suck up the grass and cut it. This week we will be testing the high lift blades to see if there is any improvement in the cut quality. Though not everyone who has a lawn loves to care for it, everyone who has a lawn definitely knows how to care for it. Wait, is that really true? Perhaps vaguely. Most people know that in order to care for a lawn, you need to water it and keep the dogs away from leaving a mark or two. But is it better to water your lawn at day, or at night?
To figure this out, let’s approach it through an analogy. Suppose you’re spending an afternoon at your favorite beach location. Now, imagine that there’s not a single cloud in the sky and you have all the water to yourself and your family. Sounds like a fantasy, right? Now imagine: you forgot sunscreen. As you and your family splash around in the water and play games, the sun is beating down on both you and the water. You begin to get warmer…
What inevitably happens is as follows. Without any protection from the sun, the bright rays shine on the water, which acts as a mirror or magnifying glass; when light passes through this type of surface, the glass accelerates the strength of the sunlight. In essence, your body will begin to sizzle. You will feel this result in the form of a nasty sunburn, which may or may not cause skin cancer in the future.
The same is true for grass. Of course, you shouldn’t expect grass to become cancerous due to harmful sunlight, but you can definitely bet that your beautiful green lawn will turn yellow in the bright sun. Watering your lawn during periods of high sunlight exposure will ruin plants. For better results, consider watering your lawn and other plants during the early morning or evening hours, to avoid burning.
